Sweet Rosemary’s Baby! Line ‘Em Up!

MoritzNot content with staging the coolest film festival on the planet the organisers have decided to also hold the coolest press conferences. To hell with a technically crisp media centre! Let’s just announce this year’s line-up preview from the bowels of the Moritz Brewery in Barcelona and then get tits deep in Cerveza!

We like how you roll Angel.

Rather amateurishly we’re unable to attend Wednesday’s conference but we’ll be sure to bring you all the line-up news as soon as Angel’s finished ordering the drinks.

It’s unlikely to be the complete film list this far in advance of the festival but Angel will no doubt have plenty to raise our glasses to.

Updated Sitges Pre-Film Animation

logo_sitgesIf you click on over to either the OFFICIAL FESTIVAL FACEBOOK PAGE or the OFFICIAL FESTIVAL YOUTUBE PAGE you’ll be able to view the new and updated animation intro that is shown at the beginning of each film.

It’s always a source of extreme excitement for us whenever this comes up before a film is shown, and we’re normally leading the cheers and applause once it finishes.

Sitges News (Kind Of) – @mikehostench Script For Asmodexia Sells!

hostenchThe big news from Cannes is that one of the Top Men at the Sitges Film Festival, Mike Hostench, has sold a script for his film Asmodexia to new Spanish Low-Budget Horror company MS entertainment.

You can read a little more over at BLOODY DISGUSTING, I think it may well be too soon to expect a screening at this year’s festival, but who knows? Maybe we’ll get to see an early cut as a surprise midnight screening.

New Sitges Poster Released

BHkONNrCIAAuH8m.jpg largeAnd here it is, it appears to be referencing Rosemary’s Baby but there’s no word yet as to if that will be a running theme for the festival or not. It’s six short months today that the 2013 Sitges Film Festival opens it’s doors and here at Corridorstyle we can almost taste the Albondigas…

Keep checking back here for updates, speculation and film previews.

2012 Blog

In keeping with tradition we’ve finally managed to produce our “daily” festival Blog ……… a week late.

Although we’ve fully embraced the Twitterverse for our spontaneous outbursts we like to keep the Blog old skool, so it’s all note pads and ball-point pens while we’re in the trenches. If we’re being honest, this is more out of necessity than any affection for traditional journalism. As the Blog itself clearly highlights we unashamedly mix business with pleasure at the festival and operating anything more technical than a biro proves challenging (touch screen keyboards and the delirium tremens were not made for each other).

Anyone that’s sampled the tapas bar delights of Sitges will attest to the fact that that’s the right way to approach things at the festival so we’re comfortable with the fact that a little journalistic immediacy is sacrificed for an old fashioned good time.

So, without further ado, HEAD OVER HERE for the final print of our 2012 festival Blog

Sitges 2012 – The Corridorstyle Program

With a swift kick to the shins worthy of THE UNJUST the organisers dealt us an early blow by programming a few of our must-see films during the first two days of the festival, that is to say, the first two days BEFORE we arrive. If you’re listening Angel, could you hold back anything Korean until at least Saturday evening next year? K. Thanks.

We still get to swing at the majority of the program during the time we are there but, for the record, here are the ones we’re muttering about missing:

NAMELESS GANGSTER

DOOMSDAY BOOK

THE TASTE OF MONEY

HOLY MOTORS

RESERVOIR DOGS

CRAWL

Still, dusting ourselves down we’ve come up with the following program to see us through our Korean cold Kimchi. Some selections may fall foul of the team’s shameless drinking habits, others may get the nod from the subs bench if they catch our eye. Either way we’ve got a potential 26 film bonanza to keep us out of trouble and here are your runners and riders:

ROOM 237

E.T (What are you laughing at?)

ACE ATTORNEY

MANIAC

ROBO-G

MEMENTO

SIDE-BY-SIDE

Sitges 2012: The Definitive Line Up. Wallop!

With less than a month to go the organizers have today announced the full line up of films to be screened at this year’s festival.

No time to stop & talk, whatever the hell the plural is for “synopsis” we’ve got a stack of them to sift through before we can even begin to pen our list of must-see films.

Our collective thoughts will be popping up HERE over the coming days and weeks but in the meantime you can check out the festival’s full film program OVER HERE

Sitges Update – More Films Announced

The excitement was palpable here at CS towers this morning as we eagerly awaited the new update that we were teased with yesterday. Once it hit our inboxes we wanted to let you know straight away, so here it is:

‘Antiviral’ and ?The ABCs of Death’ will be screened at the Festival

The Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia Festival has established itself as a prestigious showcase for screening new horror movies talents and, at the same time, new ways to represent this genre. This is the reflection made by its director, Àngel Sala, who made the most of a meeting with fans held yesterday, Thursday July 12th, at the Barcelona FNAC in the Triangle, to stress Sitges’ commitment to up-and-coming directors and give them a preview of new confirmations that will be a part of the program at this year’s Festival, that will be held from October 4th to the 14th. All of this new blood, including different styles under the same banner of innovation, will also be represented this year with films like The ABCs of Death, V/H/S, Antiviral, Excision or You’re Next. All of them are the greatest exponent of this change in tendencies in fantastic and horror cinema. An assertive effect to show what some already know as the talent of the new millennium.
