Coppola To Attend Sitges?

TEL00080007092aThis is totally unconfirmed but I think there’s a chance that the great Francis Ford Coppola will be attending Sitges this year. This is based on Tweets that I saw over the weekend, however I think they were in Catalan and unfortunately my Catalan is about as good as my Mandarin Chinese.

It would kind of make sense as I believe he’s visited Sitges a couple of times but from what I can see it wasn’t necessarily to the festival, it was to visit a restaurant called Al Fresco which had been recommended to him whilst he was visiting Barcelona.  Also, his film ‘Youth Without Youth’ is showing in the Seven Chances section and he’s also got a new film out soon called ‘Tetro’ which could potentially be shown as a surprise session?

Let us know if you’ve heard anything.

Sitges News

Ok. It’s a week old and we’ve pinched it off Variety but we’ve a few new films to add to the ever-growing Sitges festival program.

No final confirmation yet on the official Sitges site but it Looks like LA HORDE will indeed be showing along with Romero’s SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD, Christian Alvart’s PANDORUM, and Kathryn Bigelow’s THE HURT LOCKER (probably included as it’s Spanish Premier)

Inside a month to go now so we’re officially excited

Sitges Rumours Part Two

la_horde_mb02We’re also hearing that French Zombie film LA HORDE is likely to be playing at Sitges this year.

Initially I really liked the look of this as the trailer made it look like SNATCH meets 28 DAYS LATER and also reports were coming in from sites such as TWITCHFILM giving it glowing reports.

However, reading the tweets coming in from this weekend’s FRIGHTFEST, it seemed to get a fairly unanimous thumbs down so now I’m not too sure.

Sitges Rumours Part One

We’re expecting stuff to be confirmed over the next few days, but here’s the first of a couple of rumours we’ve had leaked to us recently:

dont_look_upFruit Chan’s DON’T LOOK UP is expected to be shown at this year’s festival, although as I write I’m still waiting for this to be confirmed. Our knowledge of his previous work is limited at best however a couple of years ago we managed to catch DUMPLINGS which was truly bizarre, but in a good way.

You can view the IMDB entry HERE, apparently it’s something to do with the characters in a horror movie coming to life and messing with the director?? I’ve included what I think might be the trailer below, it’s not anything I’m getting over excited about, but you’re more than welcome to try to convince me otherwise.
