I was quite looking forward to this, so now that I have seen it my disappointment is even bigger!
this is a completely pointless, wit-less film. It’s un-funny, not scary, and not even the sex scenes managed to be sexy.
Very disappointing and a waste of Thomas Dekker who has actually a very interesting face and he could be rather good in a better film…
I’ll give Araki one last chance then I’ll begin to think that “Mysterious Skin” was just a lucky mistake in an otherwise disastrous filmography.

I really hated Rubber!!! What could have been quite an inspired idea with references from David Lynch, to the horrors of the 50s and 60s, Carpenter’s Christine, and even Duel and Wall-E, in the end comes out as a smug, indulgent and self-congratulatory exercise which should have probably stayed a short film.

The film begs lots of questions about how, and when, it became clear any of this was worth documenting, but it certainly was. I still don’t know whether this was real or not, but despite that all, I was still interested while watching this. Good review, check out mine when you can!

“Monsters” was a case where the “making of” the film was more interesting than the film itself (i.e. the fact that is was made with a micro-budget and yet it looked like a multimillion blockbuster.
Not a bad film, but not one that will get repeated viewings…at least not for me.

He may be in line for an award but the festival are actually showing the director’s cut of Donnie Darko so it could just be that he’s not had chance to see it himself so thought he’d sit in ;O)

And yes, we are going to see it, I’ve just been keeping you in the dark(oh!) about my final list of must-see films.

Mr.D! As Corridorstyle’s intrepid horror reviewer we take your opinion as gospel. In which case, instead of going to see Exorcism while I’m at the festival, I’ll spend the 2 hours in El Cable sampling their Vermouth collection. I’ll report back when I’m sober.

Watched The Last Exorcism last night, the film is very good and scary in places, The actor who plays Rev Cotton Marcus is exellent, however, the ending of the film is very poor, I think I feel The Last Exorcism 2 coming on

It better be good. Simon’s screenplay for “The Handyman” beat my very own entry “Fools rush in” (options still available…..) to win the British Short Screenplay Competition in 2007. And he was swanning around Sitges that same year with a smug look on his face just to rub it in.

Well, although our careers have taken different paths since that pivotal victory I feel we’re both enjoying similar levels of success. Simon with a full blown film career and me with a co-curator role here on CorridorStyle films. Who’s looking smug now eh Simon?
